The LIFELANGS project employs a mixed-methods approach to study the everyday phenomenon of language learning, language use, and the construction and (re)presentation of identities. We seek qualified candidates for the positions below.
Funded Ph.D. Studentships
The LIFELANGS Living Observatory will provide funding for four Ph.D. studentships over the lifetime of the project. Working closely with your academic supervisors, you will focus on a specific research project in one of the LIFELANGS research streams, and produce a thesis that represents a significant contribution to knowledge. We are seeking applicants who are intrinsically motivated to join the LIFELANGS team and who are committed to the aims of the project. We welcome applications from all eligible candidates, including those from diverse and non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage applications from people who are under-represented in higher education or research, including those with experience of forced migration (asylum seekers, refugees, or people with humanitarian protection), applicants with a disability, mature candidates, first-generation university graduates, and candidates whose educational or career pathways have taken an unconventional route. We value lived experience, community engagement, and alternative career histories, and we recognise that talent can develop in many ways. If you meet the eligibility criteria, we encourage you to apply.
